Villum Experiment

Odense, Denmark • Sep 20, 2019

DSS member Richard Röttger together with Veit Schwämmle from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology have been awarded the Villum Experiment grant for their innovative and high-impact project “Artificial Intelligence to revolutionize Protein Mass Spectrometry”.

Overall, 1.7 million DKK were awarded. Richard and Veit are trying to extract an unprecedented wealth of information out of MS1 spectra and thus reduce the need for a coupled tandem run of MS2 by means of artificial intelligence. This would not only allow for drastically reducing the costs and run times of MS experiments, it would also allow for the in depth re-analysis of existing MS experiments lacking MS2 data.
